Brian Condron | Founder & Partner
Brian Condron is a Partner at Explorer Equity Group. Brian is responsible for overseeing the firm’s global finance, operations, corporate development and due diligence functions.
Brian has extensive finance, capital markets and private investment experience with past management positions at ELLO, a leading cannabis professional services firm, Ernst & Young, LLP ("EY"), American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE: AMH) and a large family office overseeing alternative asset portfolios. He has experience advising multinational private and publicly traded companies in the technology, media, cannabis and real estate sectors. He’s managed over $250 million in alternative assets and successfully raised over $100 million in private funding for real estate, debt, cannabis and technology companies.
Brian earned a B.S. in Accounting from California Lutheran University and attended the University of Southern California School of Business. Additionally, Brian is a licensed CPA.
Jay Kim | Founder & Partner
Jay Kim is a Partner at Explorer Equity Group. Jay is responsible for overseeing the firm’s Asia business and sourcing new investment opportunities and strategic relationships in the region.
Jay has over seventeen years of experience in capital markets and has been an early stage investor and hedge fund manager for over a decade. He has held senior management positions at Lehman Brothers New York, Bear Stearns Asia Limited and LST Capital Partners, a Hong Kong based SFC-licensed asset manager.
Jay is an active supporter of the start-up ecosystem in Asia and frequently consults with leaders in local government on topics related to technology, entrepreneurship, investing and startups. He is the host of The Jay Kim Show (jaykimshow.com), Hong Kong’s first dedicated podcast on entrepreneurship and investing in Asia. Inc. Magazine has named The Jay Kim Show one of the top three podcasts from Asia which are inspirational and useful to entrepreneurs.
Originally from the Bay Area, he holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a minor in Technology and is an approved Responsible Officer for SFC Type 9 regulated activities.
Cody Shirk | Founder & Partner
Cody Shirk is a Partner at Explorer Equity Group. Cody is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities, creating new strategic relationships and fostering a healthy investor base.
Cody is an explorer, surfer, and entrepreneur. He travels and invests around the world, sourcing hidden and hard to access investment opportunities. He has invested in private equity, real estate, and public markets in a variety of different countries throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
In 2017, he founded the private social and investing group, called the Explorer Partnership. This group is made up of over 100 diverse members located in over 30 different countries who travel and invest together. This provides an extremely well connected investor base that is able to leverage the political, business and local relationships they have throughout the world.
Cody has been featured in Forbes, Huffington Post, Inc. and many other publications. Additionally, he has been a speaker, advisor and host at investing events in the North America, Europe, and Asia.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, he now splits time between Palm Beach, Florida, Colombia, Panama, and wherever else opportunity takes him.
Kyle Ellicott | Partner, EEG Asia Fund
Kyle Ellicott is a Partner at Explorer Equity Group. Kyle is responsible for managing the EEG Asia Fund and assists portfolio companies in need of operational and corporate development expertise.
Kyle is the Co-Founder of ReadWrite and Chief Labs Officer of ReadWrite Labs, an industry catalyst that is accelerating the growth of the Economy of Things by connecting the people, companies, and financing shaping our connected world and lives. Kyle is a noted global speaker, consultant, published author and technologist with over 15 years experience at the cornerstone of digital transformation between industry and technology. He’s advised over 175 companies globally and successfully raised over $130 million in venture funding.
Since late 2015 Kyle has worked closely with the local communities, corporations, and governments of China along with greater Asia to further develop the startup and venture ecosystems. Additionally building a cross border pathway for entrepreneurs globally to discover and expand within the China and U.S. markets.
Originally from Michigan, Kyle is a lifelong entrepreneur who started building computers for clients at the age of 15 and worked his way through college in a variety of technology roles, including networking, security, and forensics. His passion for innovation led to his founding of several startup companies, including a media company and prominent digital agency. His leadership throughout the Internet of Things (IoT) and it's may verticals led to co-founding of ReadWrite Labs, which is the world’s first accelerator/incubator blend solely focused on the Internet of Things (IoT) position between the United States and China. Kyle is a noted speaker, consultant, and published author with over 15 years of technical and product experience with such companies as Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Eventup, and TechZulu.
